“Frozen”
I am a big avid fan of survival
challenges and stuff like that. I always love watching people on TV getting
chased and running for their lives. Weird isn’t it? But believe it or not, it
really made me feel this certain excitement and thrill while watching it, every
time it gets to the point of chasing.
Now, I have here a movie, entitled
“Frozen”, which I found really interesting as well. As far as I remember, the
first time I watched it on the cinema, I almost cried due to some of its’
intense content.
At Mount Holliston, snowboarders Dan Walker, his
girlfriend Parker O'Neil and his best friend Joe Lynch don't have enough money
to buy lift tickets. Parker bribes Jason, a lift-worker, with one hundred
dollars. When the system is nearing closure, they force Jason to let them have
one last pass. However, Jason needs to resolve a problem and his colleague
misunderstands his instructions and stops the lift. The trio of skier and
snowboarders gets stranded on the chairlift near the top of the mountain. When
they see that the lights of the ski resort had been turned off, they need to
make a choice: leave the chairlift or freeze to death. And from this, starts
their awesome, intense, and deadly journey. Making the long story short, Dan
died, since he jumped off from the cable car which is approx. 100m high. He
broke his leg-bone in a gross manner, that his legs really get inverted, and
his bones snapped out real loud as he fell down when he broke his legs. But
that is not what killed him. What killed him is when wolves smelled his blood,
roam around him, and eventually attacked him, and ate him. Joe on the other
hand, tried to escape the cable car by climbing the cable, but unfortunately,
he find himself too heavy, and the cable itself seemed snappy, so he didn’t
continue, scared that they may just be devoured by the wolves if ever they fell
down. The next day, the cable car’s cable snapped out, and so, they fell. They
tried to escape, but unfortunately, Joe died, and only Parker survived in the
end. Honestly, I really don’t know how should I demonstrate the exact events in
that movie through this, but I guess it would be better if you just watch it
yourself and maybe, you’ll get what I’m trying to say. Trust me it’s not a
waste of time and money, really.
Frozen is a type of “Plain Movie”.
Well, a person can get stocked on a cable car and have the same situation as
the characters’. But unfortunately, there are THESE some things that are a bit
far to reality.
· * Running while in a Panic Attack
· * Jumping in a 100m high cable car normally
· * Having no cellphones at all
First, Running rapidly while in a
Panic Attack. What is a panic attack anyway? Panic attack is a certain feeling,
wherein, people would get this urge to feel that something wrong or terror
would happen. What are the different symptoms of a Panic Attack? According to
an article written by Joseph Goldberg (April 26, 2012), here are the possible
symptoms of Panic Attacks:
· * "Racing"
heart
· * Feeling
weak, faint, or dizzy
· * Tingling
or numbness in the hands and fingers
· * Sense
of terror, or impending doom or death
· * Feeling
sweaty or having chills
· * Chest
pains
· * Breathing
difficulties
· * Feeling
a loss of control
If you are suffering from the symptoms
above, do you think you can even run and defend yourself when such thing
happens? Normally, if a person gets stocked to a specific situation, he/she
will be shaking and may actually feel some difficulties in moving much, or even
to control his/her actions.
So going back to the movie “Frozen”, how do
you think can the characters feel such freedom in moving without even feeling
any panic, while in the first place, anyone who gets trapped in the same
position must actually freeze due to nervousness?
Second is jumping in a 100m high cable car. No matter how
normal or crazy a person is, if he/she got trapped in such situation, he/she
will never jump in such height. It’s like jumping in a building for a belief
that by doing so, you can actually live. According to my self conducted survey,
23 out of 25 would never jump into such height. The remaining 2 said that if
they no longer have a choice, then they’d just be killing themselves instead by
jumping over it, because living would just make them suffer more. I asked the
23 people who answered that they will never jump into such height, if what would
they do to survive if they won’t jump? Some of them say that they’ll just climb
off through the cable itself, and some says that they’d wait for help. Some say
that it’s better to just stay there and do nothing than to kill yourself or
break a leg in a helpless manner by jumping in such height. Regardless if you
think it can save you, well obviously, it won’t. Unless you’re a superhero, but
you’re not.
Third is having no cellphone at all. In our generation
nowadays, cellphones are most likely to be already part of our everyday life.
Normal people bring it everywhere they go. That’s why, it is somewhat
impossible to think that not even one of them brought their cellphones. If only
one of them left his/her phone, that may be quite realistic, but considering
that all of them doesn’t bring their phones in case of emergencies? That must
be a big joke.
Those are just “some” of the plenty unrealistic parts of
movies where people actually don’t notice most of the time. It’s understandable
that the writer/director intends that to happen, but still, if you are going to
think of it really deep, then you would be ending up with these conclusions.
Seems tricky, isn’t it? But tricky enough to fool people without letting them
know about it.
